Welcome to Sun Country Ranch.....Drive on in!
Please feel free to explore our ranch on the internet and contact us with questions or comments. We've been quietly driving our horses for many years. Many that we've sold have gone on to become successful show horses in the breed ring and carriage driving events.
TALENT
Our miniature horses are bred with a special focus on driving talent. We feel that an important aspect of "driving talent" is selective breeding to produce a flashy horse with very nice natural action and good headset.
TEMPERAMENT
Along with flashy natural action, they must also posses a calm, happy, willing attitude. This means a calm horse that enjoys his work and wants to please. A willing temperament is very important for a driving horse, since one that does not enjoy his work, may show it in undesirable ways!
CONFORMATION
Almost every breeding horse here is trained to drive as well as having successful past careers in the conformation breed ring. Natural driving talent and great temperaments are two important features, but a driving horse also needs good straight legs and a correct body in order to do his job and stay sound. Correct conformation, great temperament and natural driving talent are three keys for a great all around driving horse! We have both "A" and "B" size driving horses. The larger ones are better able to handle hilly and "off road" terrain due to their larger size.
Foals are produced here at Sun Country Ranch on a very limited basis. Although the young horses produced here are for sale, I have both the space and commitment to keep and train every horse that is born here until a good match is found.
Meet Arrow, (top left) a son of Dreamer, Res. National Champion Halter horse. He's a flashy strong horse with fluid movement, a great attitude and a pleasure to drive. Visit our sales page to see his full brother and other beautiful horses available for purchase. Whether you're looking for a competition horse, or one to love and have fun with, all are from proven bloodlines. Actively involved with horses for over 35 years, we are happy to answer your questions and offer help to the novice. Enjoy your visit!
